I woke up with an old song on my mind yesterday morning. I could only think of the words to the chorus, so of course I had to look it up.

Yesterday Les and I were talking about a stormy time in our life. Four years ago, things were pretty rough - that included my Dad's lengthy hospital stay, our house being broken into, and Les losing his job. I didn't blog about all of it as we were going through it, but I did write about it a few months later - "The Peace of God that Covers".
There has never been a more stormy time in our country in my lifetime. Spend less than ten minutes reading any news site and you can feel the pressure building. The election. Civil unrest. Violence. Protests. Terrorism. I've lost track of how many times I have said, "Our country, our world, is a mess," in the past few months.
The word "anchor" is only found one time in the Bible. Hebrews 6:18-9 says, "That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil."
If you're like me, and you are concerned about what is going on around us, remember that God is the Anchor. In these times we need to be praying for our country like never before, but He's the One Who can bring peace in the midst of the storm.
