June 30th ~ Bubbles (Photo A Day)
We are in the process of customizing a cover for our pool. With our current drought conditions, we really need something to slow down the evaporation rate.
Who knew bubble wrap came in industrial strength?! It came in one giant sheet that we will be cutting to fit our free form shaped pool.
And that's the end of the Photo A Day Challenge for June!

June 29th ~ Sport (Photo A Day)
Of course my number one sport is running, following closely by cycling. I did both this morning but didn't take a picture of either one.
This is from yesterday morning's 8 miler, it was hot and humid - I felt like I was in Hawaii instead of California!

June 27th ~ Ticket (Photo A Day)
Over ripe bananas?
Banana muffins are just the ticket!
I prefer muffins to banana bread because they cook much more evenly.

June 26th ~ Sunglasses (Photo A Day)
This is not a new picture, but it's a favorite! Christmas 2010 we were trying to create our Christmas cards and every picture we had of ourselves we were wearing sunglasses! Our cards did not have this picture, but it's still a favorite.
I wear sunglasses year round. My baby blues can't take glare.

June 24th ~ HOT (Photo A Day)
Our outside thermometer is a little dirty! Fortunately it's has a transmitter and I can check the outside temperature without actually going outside.
Yes, it's hot in these parts. We've been in the 90s everyday since last week. No triple digits, yet. But when I think HOT, I think Fresno, in July, when it's about 85 at ten o'clock at night, there's no breeze and the old swamp cooler just can't keep up!

June 22nd ~ Dirt (Photo A Day)
You may not be able to see much dirt, but it's there...
I bought this little basil plant about a month ago and it has thrived in my kitchen window. The directions said, "place in shallow bowl, add 1/4" to 1/2" water each morning." Before going grocery shopping on Monday morning, I always ask Les, "is there anything special you'd like to eat this week?" Today I got a request for spaghetti! I pulled off a few basil leaves this afternoon to add to my spaghetti sauce.
It's been a productive afternoon in Kathy's kitchen, along with spaghetti sauce, I made macaroni salad, fruit salad, and butterscotch oatmeal cookies for my healing cyclist!

June 21st ~ Ice Cream (Photo A Day)
I know this is not ice cream. But I don't know anyone who loved ice cream more than my Dad! He usually just ate plain vanilla, in a tall glass not a bowl. Mom and Dad met at college where she worked in the snack bar. This is what she wrote in her "Grandmother's Memories" book ~
"boy, that red-head likes ice cream."
This is my third Father's Day without him. I miss my dear Dad. I know this, more than ice cream he loved his kids!

June 20th ~ Roll (Photo A Day)
This is not the roll I had in mind for my picture today...
"Will be a bit late. I crashed." are not the words I like to see in any text message. Les was on his bike going down a steep hill when his back tire blew out. He is scraped and battered, but home in good spirits with no broken bones.
The tube of ointment is from All Pro Bicycles, our local bike shop. Brave Soldier is more than the typical antibiotic ointment, it also has a numbing agent, Les said it has really helped with his pain.
In case you're wondering, I won't complain or tell him to stop riding - I've had my share of mishaps while running. We just get up and go again. That's how we roll.

June 16th ~ Storytime (Photo a Day)
We have one of the cutest little storybooks in our house. "The Napping House" by Audrey Wood, illustrated by Don Wood. We were first introduced to this story by our niece, Hannah. I think she was about 3 when she "read" this story to us.
It starts out with a snoring granny "on a cozy bed in a napping house, where everyone is sleeping..." Each page adds another sleeper - a dreaming child, a dozing dog, a snoozing cat, a slumbering mouse... on a cozy bed in a napping house, where everyone is sleeping...
The final addition is a flea... Can it be? a wakeful flea... a wakeful flea that wreaks havoc in the napping house... waking each member up!
And finally granny breaks the bed... in the napping house, where no one now is sleeping!
It's perfect for storytime and kids of all ages will love it!

June 15th ~ Wave (Photo a Day)
I went on an epic run yesterday morning. Les rode his bike and found me. I gave him my best, "I'm almost done with these 8 miles" wave!
I'm signed up for marathon #4 - the Revel Canyon City Marathon on November 7th. This one is almost all downhill, so my training has had a different focus. Yesterday I did a combination of run/walk on the uphills, and blasted my way downhill. My "real" training doesn't start until July 19th, but I'm ready now!

June 14th ~ Music (Photo a Day)
If you're a church musician, you just might have your music in OnSong. This is my favorite app of all time! I have approximately 800 songs that are easily accessible. Everything from old hymns, to new choruses, choir music, special songs and everything in between. No more papers, books, or copies! Not the correct key? No problem, a single transpose and we're on our way.
Here are a couple of screen shots:

This was from a trail ride this week. I rode higher up the trail than I have in several years. It was a wild ride down!

Sometimes when you read a price tag, you have to take a second look. Such amazing deals at the Las Vegas Premium Outlets!

June 11th ~ Repeat (Photo a Day)
Last Thursday the word prompt was "Again." Today it is "Repeat." A bit unimaginative, so it took me all day to come up with something. It was a beautiful, sunny day. Lows in the 60s, highs in the 80s. We can have a repeat of this for weeks and I'll be happy!

June 10th ~ Park (Photo a Day)
We made it safely home from Las Vegas last night. We were very happy to put that city in our rear view mirror! I did get up and run both Monday and Tuesday mornings. I found Sunset Park just a few miles from the noise and enjoyed a peaceful run.
Although it was a little warm at 6:00 am!
