Pashion Footwear

I stumbled across a new shoe company a couple of weeks ago.  They have the most interesting shoe - it's a two in one, fully convertible heel!   Invented and developed by 23-year-old entrepreneur Haley Pavone, Pashion Footwear uses a patent-pending technology that enables its shoes to convert from heels to flats with a simple twist of the wrist.

Pavone launched the company during her sophomore year of college at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo when she was impaled through the foot by a friend's heel after removing her own shoes due to pain. She made it her mission to create a comfortable heel that can transition with a woman throughout her day – from the boardroom to the ballpark. Over the next two years, Pavone raised $1.7 million from investors, created 10 prototypes, obtained patent-pending status in 30 countries and is now ready to share her invention with women everywhere.

I don't know about you, but all I can say is "It's About Time!!!"  I don't know how many times I have worn a cute pair of shoes to church or a convention or a wedding and after a few hours all I wanted to do was take them off!  Now that shoe converts to a comfortable flat!

Pashion Footwear is launching with two introductory shoes and will release a variety of styles, colors and heel types in the coming months. Both designs are currently available in coal black patent leather in sizes 6 through 11 with a four-inch heel kit.   Pashion Footwear is now available for purchase via www.pashionfootwear.com, starting at $165.  Obviously, this is not a cheap shoe, but think of it as buying two pairs!  They had a coupon code for $40 off, unfortunately it expired yesterday, but that is definitely something to keep an eye out for.

I sent an email to the company inquiring about smaller sizes since I wear a size 5.  They responded in under 24 hours and said they do plan to expand to more sizes, colors and styles in the future.  I really hope their company is a great success!

I Might Need An Intervention

We have been in Hawaii for about 2 weeks and will be going home on Thursday.  These are the shoes I have here:

Eleven pairs of shoes for 18 days.  I guess it's a good thing I have little feet!

It should come as no surprise that the fourth post on this blog was titled "S-H-O-E-S!!"  I've always loved shoes, and as I said in that post, "I'm like most women when it comes to shoes. I can never have too many. My motto: "If the shoe fits, buy it in every color." Of course with a size 5 foot, that's not always easy, but I try!"  I wrote about receiving five pairs of shoes that day...

How can I choose a favorite pair?  That would be like a mother choosing her favorite child!  Shoes that have taken me on adventures are definitely not the prettiest in the bunch, like these beauties...

But I can't resist purple!  Luckily for me, running shoes also come in purple...

I've always loved a good pair of shoes.  What woman doesn't?  I'll confess that since I started running marathons comfort beats style.  I really regretted my shoe choice on Sunday night - my feet were killing me by the time choir practice was over!

Ecco makes some really great shoes.  I bought a pair at the Ecco outlet that I wore all over Europe last year on our anniversary trip.  Les has several pairs - both casual and dress shoes.

Money Matters

Les and I have been giving a Bible study to a young couple in our church. A few weeks ago we took a break from the Exploring God's Word study to talk about finances. Their first child is on the way, so they asked us to help them with budgeting, offerings, etc.


One of the things we shared with them is how we handled "fun" expenses when Les and I were first married. You know, the fun stuff that you want, not needs like groceries, gas and utilities. We were both working full time to make ends meet, plus trying to save for a new car. That new car that we still drive 19 years later!


At that time Les was into skiing instead of cycling. I wasn't into either. Very early in our marriage we decided that when one of us spent money on something fun, that was just for them, the other could do the same. In other words, if Les took a ski trip, I got to spend what his lift ticket, gas, lodging, food, etc. cost on something I wanted. Of course this didn't apply to things we did together - trips, eating out, etc.


This worked great for many reasons. One, the person wanting to spend couldn't just think of themselves. "These shoes are on sale for $25!" No, those shoes will cost $50 if you decide to buy 'em. Lift ticket $60? Nope, $120. It also kept the person who hadn't spent from being resentful. "Oh, you spent $100 on a new suit jacket? Great! I can buy that new dress and purse I've been eyeing!"


It's always been "our" money - not his and mine. He's always made more than me. The current income from my four piano students certainly doesn't cover my shoe habit! But I've never felt the need to hide any expenses from Les either. We were also able to weather the storm of two months of unemployment last year because we have stayed on the same page when it comes to spending. At that point all fun spending was on hold.

It's worked for us. How do you handle "fun" purchases?

Bella Vita and a Blonde Moment

I ordered a pair of shoes a couple of weeks ago. They are my favorite color ~ purple! I needed new purple shoes. I was hoping they would arrive by last Friday, but they were delivered to one of my neighbors instead. They arrived on Monday in this cute box:


I immediately thought of Italy ~ especially Venice with its many bridges. The brand is called Bella Vita, so I went to Google Translate and enter Bella Vita, Translate from Italian to English. Bella Vita = Good Life! Getting new shoes is the good life! How many of you ladies can say amen to that??

I don't have frequent blonde moments, but when I do...

Last Thursday I was curling my hair for Youth Alive. I was planning on wearing my hair up, but my hair was "too clean" ~ I knew it wouldn't hold the curl I wanted. So I thought, "I'll put some mousse in it." I grabbed a can of mousse, sprayed some in my hand, rubbed it in my hair and proceeded to curl my hair.

Repeat the same scenario on Friday. But this time I decided to read the instructions on the can...

"How-to-Use: Shake well before use.
Holding can upright, dispense a small amount into hand
and smooth over skin."

Umm, what?? Oh, it was Olay Body Quench Mousse! It looks just like a regular can of mousse. And when it sprays out, it is just like hair mousse. No wonder my hair was so moist!


I did have some Aussie Instant Freeze Mousse (sitting right next to the Olay Body Mousse) that I used on Friday. I must say, I couldn't tell much difference in how my hair felt!!

Shoes!

I mentioned last week that I was seeing lots of interesting shoes at camp. I didn't get as many pictures as I wanted to, I'm not sure how some of the girls would have felt about a stranger taking a picture of their shoes!



I would have loved a picture of the girl who appeared to be borrowing a pair of high heels... she couldn't have been more than about 12 and I heard her before I saw her! Clip clop, clip clop...

One morning during service, I noticed a young lady with VERY high heels on, at least four or five inches. Sitting directly in front of her was a girl with tennis shoes on! That is probably the best description of camp shoes - anything goes!

The pink boot belongs to Cassia Wilson. She only wore one boot because her other foot was in a cast!
