Nearly Wordless Wednesday

As I mentioned last week, we are doing some landscape upgrading.  These palm trees were planted last week:

They are in line with four others that we planted three years ago. 

These four have grown so well in the past three years!  The wall is approximately 6 feet, so they are between 10 and 12 feet tall.  Here are a couple of our new ones, our 3 year olds, and our neighbor's 30 year old:

And then there's this beauty.  I've seen roses that cross pollinate and have two colors, but never one with such distinct colors on each leaf:

We got home last night from a wonderful getaway.  We celebrated my birthday in San Diego.  This included a trip to the zoo, a little shopping, a bike ride and so much good food!  We stayed in a wonderful condo in Mission Bay, just steps from the beach.

Today we got an order of plants.  Some of the ones we planted three years ago have gotten out of control and we are replacing them.  So I'm a little busy today, but I definitely have plenty to write about.

Our 2021 Poinsettia

We received a poinsettia plant from church last December.  Les has faithfully cared for it.  After a few months the leaves all turned green but it continued to thrive.  A few weeks ago we noticed just a little bit of red starting to peek out:

 

 

Today our plant looks like this:

A quick Google search shows that you can keep your plant alive year round and it will turn red again just in time for Christmas.  The key is putting it in a completely dark place for 10-12 hours a day.  We have not been doing that, so I'm hoping with a little extra care we will see even more red in the next few weeks.
