I just got off the phone with Dad. He is sounding a lot better. The physician's assistant was in and said they will be sending him "home" soon. Home means a rehab center in Fresno if they can get the necessary approvals. I don't know what "soon" means - my guess is by the end of the week. Originally the doctors had said 4-7 days, but that was before surgery and the blood loss he experienced.
Dad has been sitting up and walking a little more each day. Yesterday he said they were going to have him sit up for 30 minutes and it was 45. Today they were going to have him sit up for 45 minutes and it was an hour. He also said he was able to walk to the bathroom.
Slow progress is still progress...
Tuesday afternoon update:
Dad will be discharged from the hospital tomorrow morning. He will be going to a rehab center in Fresno for the time being. It will be good to have him close to everyone in the family (except me!) My plan is to go up on Friday.

Good news is such a welcomed event. When traveling north, be safe.
I'm really looking forward to seeing Dad (and the rest of my family!)
