I haven't done a Photo-A-Day challenge in quite a while.  I'm sure I've taken a month's worth of pictures in the past 10 days!

We Are Easily Entertained

On Saturday, Les and I headed to the bus stop.  Destination:  Family prayer at New Life Pentecostal Church.  But life is not just about the destination, it's also about the journey!  Here is how ours went:

Driving is for the birds...

I downloaded an iPhone app called "DaBus" and it was very helpful.  We even got off at the correct stop this time!  It only took about 5 minutes to walk to the church.

This guy was sound asleep.  We was seated sideways directly in front of me.  I kept waiting for his head to fall in my lap!  He stepped off at a stop, then we saw him a couple of other times.  We weren't sure if he got off, then quickly back on or what!  I said, "I won't be surprised if he shows up at prayer!"

The bus was packed.  Many of the riders were headed to Chinatown for the Chinese New Year block party.

There was also another "sleeper" who was leaning against the window and pressing down on the "Stop" cord.  The driver stopped at one stop and walked all the way through the bus asking, "who is pulling the cord?"  By that time he was awake and didn't have a clue that he was the guilty party!

Church! Finally!

We finally made it to church yesterday.  It felt like it had been forever.  Les was just too sick last week for us to make it.  Before we got there, we had a little adventure...

The Bus doors - "Push to Open"

We are staying about nine miles from New Life Pentecostal Church.  Nine miles?  Piece of cake!  Well it is when you have a car...but we have been relying on our feet or The Bus to get around.  It took over an hour to go those nine miles via bus! 

We were doing great until we got off one stop too late.  Then we had a bit of a hike to make it to church!  We left out hotel at 4:30 and walked in right as service was starting at 6:00.  We are seriously talking about renting a car on the weekends!

I was really glad I wore comfortable shoes!

Once we finally made it to church, I was so glad!  The first song was "I Came to Magnify the Lord" and I felt right at home.  We were greeted by so many smiling faces - a great reminder of how important it is to greet every visitor when they come to church, no matter what they look like.

Pastor McGriffin preached about "Eating a Jezebel's Table" from I Kings 18.  He talked about having a "whatever" attitude.  The word whatever is not in the Bible!  God wants us to be concerned about what His Word says, not just pick and choose which parts we like. 

The Hicks family graciously offered us a ride home last night after service.  I was thrilled because it was pouring rain!  We would have been dry on the bus, but the walk to the stop would have been less than exciting!
