I am thankful for a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!
We started our "weekend" on Wednesday by heading up to Fresno. Dad had homemade vegetable beef stew and cornbread ready when we got there.
On Thursday, we feasted at my Aunt Suzie's. Everything was so good. Little Terry is such a cutie, but of course he gets in everything!
On Friday, Les and I headed north on highway 99, then west on 152 through Pacheco Pass. We stopped for lunch at Casa de Fruta. So many memories of an old fruit stand and so many changes!
Our final destination was Carmel. We stayed at the cozy Fireplace Inn with plans to work off some of the pumpkin pie we consumed by riding our bikes on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday!
We were rained out on Saturday, but made up for it yesterday. We parked at the Bixby Bridge and headed up the Old Coast Road. This was suppose to be a six mile trail but ended up being ten! And it was TOUGH!!
At the end of the trail we had a decision to make - go back up the trail the way we came or up the Pacific Coast Highway. We chose the PCH and spent the next eight miles pedaling straight into the wind. And it was TOUGH!!
Les and I both agree the trail couldn't have been any tougher than the 15-20 mph headwinds on the PCH! But we made it back to the car after 3 hours and 25 minutes of riding.
We got up early this morning and rode beautiful 17 Mile Drive. It is spectacular... once you get through the first 2 1/2 miles of climbing!
We are now packed up and preparing for the 300+ mile trip home. As soon as we eat breakfast!
I've got lots of pictures to download when we get home. Another weekend of R&R&R!

It sounds like an amazing trip!!! And oh, the memories I have of Casa de Fruta! AND Carmel and 17 Mile Drive...such special places...
On my first trip to California, we drove the Pacific Coast. What a lovely area!
