Bonjour!

 

Les and I returned last night from an amazing trip!  It was our "30th Anniversary Trip" celebrated a couple years late.  We like to celebrate big every five years... but COVID.  So this took place on our 32nd anniversary instead.  I will have blog content for weeks.  We were gone NINETEEN days!  That is the longest we have ever been gone.

We left LAX on Wednesday, May 17th and arrived in London on Thursday, May 18th.  We were in London for a few days and rode in the classic black cab:

Saw lots of sights and walked lots of miles!

On Saturday we transferred to Southampton via Stonehenge:

We boarded the Regal Princess in Southampton for our 12 day British Isles Cruise which included stops on the beautiful island of Guernsey:

Three stops in Ireland, starting with Cobh:

Dublin:

And Belfast, with the Giant's Causeway:

We then cruised over to Scotland and enjoyed time in Glasgow:

 

Inverness, which meant a bike ride to the Loch Ness for us:

Edinburgh, where we sampled chocolates and made some of our own:

After a final day at sea, we left the ship a day early when we docked in LaHarve, France.  Our destination - Bayeux in the Normandy region.  We spent three days in this lovely chateaux:

 

And toured many of the museums, memorials and beaches of Normandy:

We finally made our way to Paris on Saturday where we had about half a day to sample the city via the Hop On Hop Off Bus.

We left Paris Saturday evening, rode the Eurostar train back to London, and took another cab to our hotel.  We got up Sunday morning and flew home!  We are exhausted but had such a great time.  It was a wonderful mix of exploring, eating, relaxing, and learning.  Stayed tuned in the days ahead for lots of pictures, but for now I've got groceries to buy and clothes to wash!
