We really enjoyed our stay in Mexico Beach, Florida last week. El Governor Motel sits right on the beach, we had this view of the Gulf of Mexico from our third floor room:
The Gulf water is so much warmer than the Pacific! It's so calm and the sand is extremely soft.
I found Sunny Days bike rentals online and was thrilled that they would deliver the bikes to our hotel. They were locked up by the elevator when we arrived at 2:00 Wednesday morning (a flight delay story for another day!)
It was so fun riding along the Gulf.
The temps everyday were in the 60s and 70s with low humidity.
We even took the bikes on the sand ~ it was firm enough near the water's edge.
While riding on Wednesday, we noticed a land mass in the Gulf. After looking at a map, we realized it was a peninsula. We made it our goal to ride to the end! We split it up by riding 24 miles on Wednesday. We then loaded our bikes in our rental car to ride 26 miles on Thursday, and 16 miles on Friday! We went as far as the road would take us!
We also enjoyed our dinners each night without any guilt!
