Quail, Anyone?

My Bible reading this week has been in the book of Numbers. (Yeah me, I've made it through Leviticus!) In chapter 11 the people complained. They were tired of manna. They wanted flesh to eat. They remembered Egypt and all it's delights.


I laughed a little when I reread that God sent quail. We have had an abundance of quail around here lately. Unfortunately, they have been flying into our front windows at full speed! The crash is frightening to me, but it marks the end for the birds as their necks are quickly broken. The best Les and I can figure is the sky is being reflected and the birds don't realize they are flying right into glass.

By the way, we're not eating the quail that have been sent. Definitely don't want to experience what happened next:

31 And there went forth a wind from the LORD, and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, as it were a day's journey on this side, and as it were a day's journey on the other side, round about the camp, and as it were two cubits high upon the face of the earth.
32 And the people stood up all that day, and all that night, and all the next day, and they gathered the quails: he that gathered least gathered ten homers: and they spread them all abroad for themselves round about the camp.
33 And while the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the wrath of the LORD was kindled against the people, and the LORD smote the people with a very great plague.

Mom always said, be careful what you wish for, you just might get it!
