After enjoying our Mexican Rivera cruise in February so much, we decided we would take our long awaited Alaskan Cruise. Doug and Lori have been on our "travel to Alaska with" list for just as long! It didn't take much arm twisting to get them on board with this trip.
Les and Doug share a birthday - August 19th. Les is one year older, but these two have been great friends since childhood. Our original plan was to cruise on their shared birthday, but Doug and Lori are going to become grandparents for the second time in early September so we decided August was cutting it too close.

The Discovery Princess is the newest ship in the Princess fleet. It's first cruise was March 27, 2022. It sailed from Los Angeles to Mexico for about a month before moving to Seattle. Pastor and Sister McGriffin were on the cruise that sailed from Los Angeles to Seattle at the end of April.
The Discovery Princess is the same type and size of ship as the Majestic Princess which we sailed on in February. Boarding the ship felt very familiar with one exception - we were no
longer required to wear masks while indoors! We still needed to take a
COVID test within 72 hours of embarking, probably the most stressful
part of the whole trip is waiting those 10 minutes to prove a
negative test. While that is a hassle, is does give some peace of mind
about a healthy trip.
Doug and Lori arrived in Seattle about 30 minutes before we did, so we
shared a Lyft to the port and were on our way! First stop - Gigi's
Pizzeria. It was the first of many meals we enjoyed together.
We left Seattle behind at 5:00 p.m. and started settling in for an amazing trip!
