I found a very fun Viator experience for the first part of our day in Edinburgh... but first we had to get there! Once again we had to take a water taxi to port. This process was slow and then about 5 minutes from the ship, our water taxi turned around and headed back to the ship. Two passengers got off and then we were headed back to the port of South Queensferry.
The water taxi delay caused us to miss the train to Edinburgh. We had to wait about 30 minutes before the next one arrived. We knew we were going to be late, but we made our way to the Chocolatarium as quickly as we could. We were about 15 minutes late but they were sweet enough to let us in!
We sampled both dark and milk chocolates and learned some of the process of creating chocolate from cacao.
We then went into the Chocolate Factory Kitchen. Our guide, Claire, was wonderful - both informative and fun.
We each had our own work station with a variety of sprinkles and add ins. We chose our own molds. Les got "Nessie"
and I chose castles:
We got both dark and milk chocolate and started to create our chocolates:
While our chocolates were cooling we went into the Tasting Room. We started off with these four varieties:
We then got to choose from the many varieties available. The two chili flavored chocolates were both delicious and spicy!
We finished off our tour in the gift shop where we picked up the bars we made and bought a couple more flavors - Banoffee (banana + toffee) and Lemon Poppy Seed.
With so much sugar in us we were ready to explore Edinburgh for a while!
