It Happened to Them, It was Written for Us

Victory Tabernacle has started the new year off with revival services.  Our evangelist, Bro. Waldrep, preached an incredible message on Tuesday night, the first night.  His title was "It Happened to Them, It was Written for Us."  All the great stories in the Bible happened to someone.  They lived those great moments.  They didn't know the end when they faced adversity, they lived it.  But they were written for us.  We can find hope and inspiration through these great stories.

Bro. Waldrep's text was from Acts chapter 12, when Peter was in prison.  The angel delivered him and he went to the home of Mary, the mother of Mark.  The church was there praying for his deliverance, but when he came to the door, they didn't believe.  They were astonished!  It's funny how we are astonished sometimes when our prayers are answered.

At the end of his message, Bro. Waldrep changed the wording in Acts chapter 12.  Instead of Peter, he used the word Revival:

5 Revival therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for Revival.
6 And when Herod would have brought Revival forth, the same night Revival was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.
7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon Revival, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Revival on the side, and raised Revival up, saying, Arise up quickly. And Revival's chains fell off from his hands.
8 And the angel said unto Revival, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so Revival did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.
9 And Revival went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.
10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from Revival.
11 And when Revival was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
12 And when Revival had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.
13 And as Revival knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.
14 And when she knew Revival's voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Revivalstood before the gate.
15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.
16 But Revival continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw Revival, they were astonished.

I love how he changed this passage!  I don't believe he misused the Word of God at all, but used it to strengthen our faith.  I don't know what you're praying for in 2016 - it may be a miracle, healing, a job situation - but have faith!  It happened to them, but it was written for YOU!
